TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

Our journey will include an unforgettable scenic train ride from Nuwara Eliya to Ella. This route is famed for its breathtaking views, particularly as we cross the iconic Nine Arches Bridge. Imagine gliding through lush tea plantations, misty mountains, and picturesque villages, all while soaking in the serene beauty that surrounds us.

Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s most renowned wildlife sanctuary, spans an impressive 97,800 hectares and is the second largest in the country. It is home to an incredible array of wildlife, including elephants, leopards, bears, crocodiles, and wild boar. This park has gained international fame through features on National Geographic and Discovery channels, particularly for its leopard conservation projects.

Remarkably, Yala boasts the highest concentration of leopards per square kilometre in the world! I have yet to visit Yala myself, and I am eagerly looking forward to sharing this first-time experience with you.

We will also explore the majestic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As we ascend to the top, we’ll pass the famed Sigiriya frescoes, which depict buxom, wasp-waisted maidens bearing flowers amidst ancient ruins and lush wilderness. The "Mirror Wall," with its polished surface and ancient graffiti, provides a glimpse into the thoughts and expressions of visitors from centuries past. This site is a true marvel, combining natural beauty with historical significance.

Our tour also includes a visit to the awe-inspiring Dambulla rock temple, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by King Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C., this temple complex is the largest and most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. I've seen it personally and it's such a wonder to behold something that has stood the test of time.

It features five caves adorned with over 2,000 square metres of intricate paintings, making it the largest collection of painted surfaces in the world. The serene atmosphere and rich history of Dambulla Temple will leave you mesmerised.
